Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Linguistics or a closely related field. 

Candidates must also have:

  • Experience lecturing in Linguistics
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • English Creole Linguistics
  • English Linguistics
  • Language Acquisition
  • Sociolinguistics 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • A solid publication record
  • Variationist and Contact Linguistics in the Caribbean
  • Corpus Linguistics

Special Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate-level teaching, supervision and assessment
  • Programme administration
  • Providing advice and support to students (Academic advising)
  • Contributing to the research work of the subject area
  • Engaging in scholarly activities including research and publications
  • Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
  • Participating in the design and development of courses, teaching materials and or programmes in Linguistics
  • Supervising undergraduate research projects as well as postgraduate research work
