Fixed Term of not less than 1 year and up to 4 years (with potential of continued function)
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking a Strategic Senior Teaching Fellow to provide leadership to the introduction, development and evaluation of innovative and effective teaching methods and educational approaches in the Department.
The post holder will be required to work one-to-one with individual academics and teaching staff, as well as facilitating the development of education research and learning and teaching scholarship across the Department.
Education, Skills and Knowledge
You will be educated to masters level (or equivalent) in a discipline involving practical civil engineering skills and passionate about the use of current teaching and learning approaches that enhance student engagement and understanding.
An awareness of and interest in pedagogical methods in higher education is essential, together with an ability to co-operate with academic staff and students in order to achieve teaching and learning outcomes and increase satisfaction.
A recognised PG Certificate or learning and teaching qualification is required, along with a keen interest in evidence-based and discipline oriented educational research.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will work with the Department to observe and review the current methods of teaching at UG and PG levels and provide bespoke recommendations to teaching staff for achieving improved learning outcomes through enhanced student engagement.
You will also assist in implementing new teaching and assessment methods with staff in the Department together with designing and implementing an evaluation of the effectiveness of the changes.
