Join the Widening Participation and Outreach Team at St Mary’s University Twickenham as we move to implement our exciting Vision 2025. Based at the university’s leafy campus in Twickenham, you will report to the Widening Participation and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Student Recruitment Team, the School of Education, Theology and Leadership, as well as the Learning and Development Team. You will take lead responsibility for the management, delivery and evaluation of widening participation efforts focused on attainment raising.
You will be responsible for initiating and managing an exciting new project which hopes to aid increased attainment, with a particular emphasis on our National Collaborative Outreach Project (NCOP) work. With funding guaranteed until at least December 2018, you will develop a series of sustained interventions in order to support ward learners and their classmates.The post-holder will form a programme of student mentors, which will be deployed in the classroom to serve as teaching assistants, and Line Manage these students ensuring they’re appropriately trained and supported.
Working closely with expert colleagues you will develop a suite of meta-cognitive and study skills sessions for young people. Therefore experience of developing and delivering engaging, age and curriculum appropriate content, ideally within a classroom environment, is essential for this role. You will enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders, both internal and external, and have demonstrable experience of engaging and building relationships with educators and/or widening participation practitioners. You will take a lead role in project managing and delivering a conference with a partner university, so excellent organisational skills are necessary for the post. More broadly, a strong commitment to widening participation is required due to the nature of this role.
