Salary: £46,762 -£56,526 (All appointments will normally be made at the bottom of the salary range)

Job Summary 

The Business School is seeking to appoint a Senior Programme Manager for its prestigious Doctoral Programme. This position reports to the Doctoral Programme Director and works closely with Department Directors to deliver the programme in an inspirational, professional and efficient manner, ensuring our Doctoral students have a first-class experience.  

The Doctoral Programme at Imperial College Business School is a centralised programme across the School’s research specialisms and currently hosts around 75 PhD students. The programme offers Postgraduate Research students in the Business School structured training through a taught Masters in Research (MRes) prior to enrolment on to the PhD. PhD students contribute actively to the teaching and research culture within the Business School and upon completion, the School aims to place PhD graduates in academic positions in top Business Schools worldwide. 

The School has an ambitious strategy for growth and plans for development include creating strategic links with other academic departments and institutions to give doctoral students wider opportunities for breadth and depth in their training. 

Duties and responsibilities 

Managing the Doctoral Programme, you will be responsible for overseeing the effective operational delivery for all programme-related activities. In collaboration with the Programme Director and Department Directors, the post holder is also responsible for the strategic development of the programme to ensure that Doctoral graduates are provided with the training and support necessary to achieve their academic aspirations. 

You will engage with world class academics across different research disciplines and work closely in partnership with professional teams in the Business School and across Imperial College to deliver the programme strategy and provide a first-rate student experience.

You will be integral in working with a variety of key academic stakeholders You will provide guidance to colleagues on postgraduate research student processes and use feedback to drive change and enhancements to the programme. 

Essential requirements 

You should have significant experience of working in a professional environment in an operational management role and be able to drive and implement change on both a strategic and administrative level. Relevant experience in postgraduate education or training would be an advantage, as would a keen interest in the issues affecting Higher Education and researcher development. 

You must have excellent communication skills and be confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Experience of working across departments or in a complex environment would be advantageous.
