The School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering is a multi-disciplinary centre of research and education located in the heart of London’s vibrant design community. It is proud of its research advances and of educating thousands of undergraduates and postgraduates in STEM subjects.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics is ranked fourth in London by the Guardian and offers several BEng, MEng and MSc courses. Its research is organised in two multi-disciplinary Research Centres: the Aerodynamics and Flow Control Research Centre; and the Thermofluids Research Centre.


The School currently has around 500 Aviation professionals studying part-time on the Aviation Management MSc programmes. This is a well-established programme with modules block-taught in London, Dubai and Frankfurt.

The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to a Senior Lectureship in Aviation Management. The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students across multiple sites in the UK and abroad and will assume additional responsibility as Deputy Course Director, which includes the development of the Aviation Management MSc portfolio.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in Aviation; significant experience of aircraft operations; a breadth and depth of knowledge in topical areas of aeronautical engineering, aircraft and airport operations and related safety topics; experience in enabling and delivering educational excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and demonstrable evidence of success in developing and implementing team plans.

A record of world-leading or internationally excellent research is desirable, as are experience of writing successful research proposals or equivalent bids for funding and investment; and experience of supervising research students.
