Job offer in london Researcher at NatCen Social Research
Application deadline: 9am, Monday 28th January 2019
About the job
We are looking to recruit exceptional research professionals to join our Surveys, Data and Analysis department as Researchers.
We will be recruiting people with post-graduate experience in quantitative survey research, who are passionate about research and the research process and are looking to develop a career in social research. We’re looking for people who are flexible, good communicators and work well as part of a team.
The Surveys, Data and Analysis carries out research across a range of important social policy areas. This includes undertaking some of the most well-known national large-scale surveys in Britain, a number of which produce official or national statistics. Examples include NatCen’s own British Social Attitudes, the English Housing Survey and the Health Survey for England. We also undertake a range of smaller surveys. The Surveys, Data and Analysis focuses on excellence in social survey design and delivery. It is split into three research groups: Household Surveys, Health & Biomedical and Longitudinal Surveys. Researchers will be based in one of the groups but can expect to gain experience working across teams.
Each survey team is responsible for a survey from development to delivery so you’ll be involved in all stages including design, set up, monitoring fieldwork, data analysis and reporting. As a Researcher, your day to day work could include preparing and checking study materials and questionnaires, helping to design survey questions, briefing interviewers, preparing response reports, attending meetings, running tables or writing part of a report. You will also get the opportunity to get involved in developing proposals for new areas of work.
Candidates will have a minimum of a 2:1 degree-level qualification and strong numeric skills. You should have a good understanding of analysing data and demonstrable experience of social or market survey research.
