The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £33,518 – £39,992 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance

This post will be Fixed-Term Contract for 3.5 years

This 3.5 year post forms part of a CRUK Grand Challenge grant (PRECISION) aimed at identifying molecular markers that will predict which women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) are likely to progress to invasive disease, so that the most appropriate treatment can be offered to those at greatest risk. The main responsibility of the post-holder will be the analyses and interpretation of next generation sequencing data and microarray data from DCIS samples collected through the Sloane Project, a UK wide prospective audit of screen detected non-invasive breast cancer (http://www.sloaneproject.co.uk). The post-holder will work closely with other bioinformaticians in the PRECISION consortium at the Sanger Centre and Netherlands Cancer Institute.

The post will be located on the Guy’s Hospital campus within the new Innovation Hub, Guy’s Cancer Centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for bioinformatics and statistical genetics support in the Breast Cancer Genetics group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer and will work closely with the bioinformatics teams at KCL led by Dr Anita Grigoriadis and Professor Michael Simpson.

A PhD in bioinformatics/ computational biology is highly desirable but candidates with an MRES in bioinformatics/ computational biology and appropriate experience will be considered.

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation, and a panel interview.
