Applications are invited for a PA to Professor Sarah Tabrizi, who leads the internationally acclaimed Huntington’s disease (HD) research and clinic team within the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease which she co-Heads with Professor Nick Fox. This is a stimulating and key administrative role as the post holder will assist with the organisation of all Professor Tabrizi’s administrative affairs, including her day to day activities, and those relating to her role as Head of Department, committee and management work, consultancy work, research funding, research team and her wider public and professional portfolio. Liaison with administrative staff within the Department and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology Administration, including HR and Finance, are key components of the job. The post holder will be heavily involved with the design of a new UCL Huntington’s Disease Centre fundraising initiative, and will be expected to assist with updates to the Centre’s website. S/he will also support Professor Tabrizi’s Senior Administrator in all aspects of his role. Duties will be broadly based, so the post holder will need to adopt a flexible approach, be prepared to use initiative, and able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
Applicants must be educated to ‘A’ level and have substantial administrative and proven senior PA experience, including maintaining a complex diary and transcribing dictation. Experience of arranging international conferences is essential, as are good interpersonal skills, an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting, and excellent IT and oral and written communication skills. Candidates must have experience of minute-taking and of fundraising, and an interest in/knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Huntington’s disease.
The post is available from March 2019 and is funded for 3 years in the first instance from discretionary funds. Starting salary on the UCL Grade 6 scale in the range of £28,574 to £33,487 per annum, including London Allowance, superannuable.
