The Department of Psychology is based in the heart of the West End in Central London, in the Faculty of Science and Technology. It comprises over 40 academic staff and researchers, 2 technicians and a diverse, multicultural student population. The Department offers British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in psychology, cognitive and clinical psychology, and health psychology. We also offer postgraduate degrees in business psychology. We have particular strengths in ‘added value’ and employability.
The Department has a friendly and supportive staff team and fosters a dynamic interaction between teaching and research. Research areas span the full breath of psychology including psychobiology and health psychology, cognitive neuroscience, social and business psychology. We have a wide range of technical resources including EEG, EMG and TMS facilities, eye tracking systems, CANTAB cognitive assessment software, a qualitative research laboratory, a number of research cubicles and a sound attenuated research laboratory.
The postholder will provide expertise and module leadership in the area of social psychology (especially critical social psychology and qualitative research), and should be familiar with the British Psychological Society’s curriculum for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the Society (GBC). They will also contribute to research methods teaching and project supervision, and teach within a variety of settings from small tutorial groups to large lectures. The postholder is also expected to conduct research and engage in other scholarly activities.
