Purpose and Main Duties
The Department of Law is seeking to appoint two outstanding and enthusiastic scholars to join a team committed to high-quality evening teaching of a mixture of traditional and mature students from diverse backgrounds as well as to theoretically-informed, critical and multidisciplinary research. The Department of Law, housed in the School of Law, emerges from a strong tradition of critical legal scholarship and enjoys an internationally recognised research profile.

The successful candidates will be required to contribute to the Department’s diverse taught and research degree programmes especially the Law LLB and the Qualifying Law Degree (LLM) and our International Economic Law LLM.

We are looking for applicants with teaching and research expertise in Contract Law and/or Equity. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with additional research expertise in, and willingness to teach, the following areas:

  • At Undergraduate level: Private Law, Finance Law, Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, Employment Law, Tax Law.
  • At Postgraduate levels: Economic Law, Law and Development, Global Commodities Law and related, Law and Political Economy.

Candidates should have completed or be near to completion of a PhD (or equivalent qualification), and show evidence of published research or exceptional potential. All academic staff within the Department are required (subject to assigned duties) to contribute to teaching, scholarship, and published research relating to both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, as well as to undertake effectively their assigned administrative duties.

Applicants are requested to submit a curriculum vitae and an application form that outlines their research interests, teaching experience and administrative skills. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide an academic writing sample and lesson plan on a teaching topic of their choice.

Further Information

Salary: Grade 7-8 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £36,548 rising to £50,514 per annum.

This post is full time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and open-ended. The salary quoted above is on the College’s London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 3 years.
