We are seeking to recruit an Information Assistant to join our Library User Services team based at our main Northampton Square Library site. The work will involve a combination of supporting library users at our busy service points as well as contributing to the work of the User Services team.
The role holder will participate in the delivery of circulation and enquiry services to library users at one of our 4 library sites. This role involves handling circulation transactions and enquiries at library service points; helping maintain the study environment in the library; using the library management system to carry out processes and procedures; creating signage and notices for users; recording statistics on library use and enquiries.
Regular tasks will include dealing with circulation enquiries, processing membership applications, and regular reporting of lost and missing items, repairing items and contributing to service wide projects.
Information Assistants may be required to work evening duties on a rota basis.
The successful candidate will be able to offer excellent customer service and will possess good verbal and written communication skills. You will be capable of working effectively in a team as well as individually and able to organise and prioritise your own workload. You will be familiar with using libraries and library resources and able to utilise information technology to a high standard, including web technologies and social media. The ability to deliver work with a high degree of accuracy is an important element in this role.
