Imperial College’s Career Service is in search of a Director to lead and develop their talented team to deliver a world-class service. This exciting career opportunity will see you work across the breadth of the College and beyond, engaging recruiters, prospective recruiters, students and alumni to ensure that the employability prospects of Imperial College graduates remain amongst the strongest nationally and globally.

You will work closely with the Director of Student Services to ensure that the Careers Service is aligned to the College’s broader strategic aims and that the service is built to operate effectively in a changing world of student employability. To do this successfully, you will bring to the role experience of leading strategy development and implementation, an ability to quickly build highly effective working relationship and sophisticated leadership and staff development skills. You will have strong analytical skills and a track record of ‘joining the dots’; using data to underpin and drive strategic decisions and encouraging your team to do the same.

To be successful in this high visibility position, you will draw on experience gained in roles such as: Director of Careers, Deputy Director of Careers, Head of Careers, Head of Employability, Assistant Head of Careers Service, Deputy Head of Careers Service, Director of Employability, Head of Employability or similar.

Overarching responsibilities will include:

  • Providing vision, coaching, leadership and direction for the Careers Service team, so that Imperial College’s student employability and outcomes are secured effectively, and a highly collaborative team environment in maintained and developed.
  • Planning, leading, developing and implementing strategies for the delivery of a well organised and coherent information, advice and guidance service, which provides a high quality of service for students, academic departments and recruiters – raising the bar at every opportunity.
  • Being proactive and entrepreneurial in the generation of new income from external sources and ensuring effective financial management of the Careers Service; monitoring and reviewing relationships with external organisations and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring that the College secures value for money.

This opportunity would be ideally suited to an individual with a clear vision and skillset with which to develop and deliver cohesive service enhancements to the College’s Careers Service.
