Fixed Term for 9 months with the possibility to extend to 21 months

As part of its commitment to delivering high quality clinical placements to medical students, the medical school wishes to appoint a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Neurology. This replacement post will commence in November 2018 for 9 months, potentially extendable to 21months depending on outcomes and by mutual agreement.  

Applicants are invited to apply for the post which includes teaching undergraduate medical students, supporting senior staff in the development of a post-graduate education portolio and undertaking clinical activities (including potentially clinical research/service improvement projects) typically with duties at ST3 (or above) level. However candidates at Core Training and above with relevant clinical neurosciences experience, an interest in undergraduate medical education are also encouraged to apply. The clinical element will be tailored to the successful candidates’ needs.

Applicants should demonstrate broad clinical experience and must hold full MRCP / MRCS (including PACES) or equivalent. Applicants with experience in teaching and a wish to continue a career in academic medicine would be preferred. The post is suitable for those aiming for speciality training numbers, or as an out of programme experience for those already in speciality training.

The post is not accredited for specialist training but support for study leave will be given.Therefore, post holders are encouraged to complete audit and research projects and to submit papers / posters.
