Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain direct experience of supporter and alumni engagement in the arts and higher education. At present the College has launched More Music: Reimagining the Royal College of Music Campaign. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that will transform our present building into a conservatoire fit for the twenty-first century. We are investing in two new performance spaces, more practice rooms, and are creating an interactive museum for our world-class historical instrument collection. We will also expand our vital scholarship and bursary programme as well as our digital aspirations and important outreach activities. We have secured over 60% of our overall fundraising target but we still have much to achieve The post-holder will be integral to our success and will provide the key administrative support to the Director of Development & Alumni Engagement. The role also involves contact with the College’s high level donors and supporters, students, eminent musicians, many of whom are professors, among many others.
You will need excellent inter-personal, IT, communication, and organisational skills, the ability to manage a varied workload and to work as a member of a team. Strong administrative experience, including of servicing committees, is also required. An interest in classical music and higher education is highly desirable.
The Secretariat is the administrative hub of the RCM and provides essential support to the College’s Directorate.
This is a full-time post on a permanent contract.
