The Centre for Experimental Medicine is an interdisciplinary research centre which is committed to the highest quality scientific endeavour, with over 250 basic and clinical scientists working on site. Our mission is to understand the mechanisms of disease and use that understanding to develop innovative new treatments and therapies to improve patient outcomes.
We are recruiting for a Technician who will be a highly productive and collaborative member of the Clinical Infection research team led by Dr Ronan McMullan in the Centre for Experimental Medicine. You will work as part of an NIHR HTA-funded research programme that seeks to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of rapid tests for fungal infections. Your core responsibilities will be to coordinate the storage, transport and testing of clinical specimens by close liaison with collaborators at study sites across the UK.
This post is full time and available until 31 March 2021 with possibility of extension.
The successful candidate must have:
- Academic and/or vocational qualifications ie Degree, HND/HNC and/or NVQ level 4 in relevant subject (or equivalent).
- Proven relevant work experience to include:
-DNA extraction and amplification by PCR
-development and/or implementation of standard operating procedures.
