The Northern Ireland Cancer Registry (NICR) is located in the Centre for Public Health, Queen’s University Belfast and is funded by the Public Health Agency for Northern Ireland.

The Registry is responsible for the production of Official Statistics on cancer incidence, prevalence and survival in Northern Ireland and provides evidence to help inform decision making about cancer services. NICR collect patient information on their disease and the services they receive. This work uses data provided by patients and collected by the health service as part of their care and support. Protection of patient information is a priority within the Registry and strict confidentiality rules are applied to prevent identification of individual patient details. 

We are recruiting for a Statistician who will provide epidemiological, statistical and geographical analytical skills to assist in the development and completion of a work program funded by Macmillan cancer support within the NICR.

This post is available full time until 31/03/2020 with possibility of extension.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Honours Degree or equivalent in maths, statistics, psychology, epidemiology or relevant subject area.
  • Proven relevant experience to include:

o Recent experience in analysing health related datasets.

  • Experience of using statistical packages SPSS / STATA / SAS.

Salary scale: £33,199 to £35,210 per annum
