The successful candidate will undertake research in the broad area of clinical health psychology in collaboration with existing expertise in the School. They will teach and provide research supervision on the undergraduate BSc Psychology honours programme and/or the Schools post-graduate programmes and will contribute to School administration/outreach activities.

The successful candidate must have:

At all levels:

  • Undergraduate honours or postgraduate degree in psychology or closely related discipline .
  • A PhD in a relevant area of psychological research

A minimum of 3 years’ relevant research experience.

Strong theoretical and empirical background in health psychology.

Research interests that are sustainable and that complement and enhance existing research activities within the School in the area of health psychology in particular within clinical health psychology.

At Senior Lecturer level

  • Recognised excellence and reputation in health psychology.
  • Sustained publication record in peer reviewed psychology journals that are REF returnable at international level
  • Successful application for research funding and management of research grants.
  • Experience of preparing and delivering lectures to psychology undergraduates or postgraduates
  • Experience of designing new and innovative modules (series of lectures) or assessment methods. (When completing the application, individuals must provide information on their teaching experience, including degree programme, class size, type of teaching e.g. lectures, tutorials).
  • Contribution to a wider range of administrative tasks at a more strategic level.
  • Contribution to a wider range of community outreach programmes/initiatives in designing and delivering innovative 
new programmes.

At Lecturer level

  • Research experience in health psychology.
  • A strong publication record in peer reviewed psychology journals/conference papers, commensurate with stage of career, or the demonstration of the potential to publish.
  • Experience of teaching psychology to undergraduates or postgraduates.
  • Ability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes.

Salary scale:  

Lecturer: £35,550 – £49,149 per annum (potential to progress to £52,132 per annum through 
sustained exceptional contribution)
Senior Lecturer: £50,618 – £58,655 per annum (potential to progress to £64,079 per annum through 
sustained exceptional contribution)
