Job offer in Ireland Research Technologist – Animal Health & Welfare at The Agriculture and Food Development Authority
Location: Teagasc, Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork.
Grade/Salary: Technologist Grade 1, with a starting salary of €33,387 per annum. The current salary scale is €33,387 to €64,981.
Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).
Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.
Post Type: Permanent
A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
Basic Function: The appointee will assist Teagasc in the implementation of a dairy cow health and welfare research programme with particular emphasis on:
- Welfare assessment of dairy cows.
- Dairy cow lameness; risk factors, diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
- Role of biosecurity and vaccination.
- Development of on farm health protocols.
Note: The ‘Essential’ qualifications, skills and knowledge outlined below are ‘must-have’ which will be used in the shortlisting process.
- Candidates must have a Level 8 degree in agricultural science or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in dairy herd management would be a distinct advantage.
