Post Status: Specific-purpose contract (full-time) to undertake research on vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle networking
CONNECT (https://connectcentre.ie/) is Ireland’s largest telecommunications research centre and carries out industry-informed research focusing on wireless and optical networks of the future. This position, under the direction of Prof. Vinny Cahill in collaboration with Prof. Siobhán Clarke and Dr. Melanie Bouroche, is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and Intel Labs. The project will be in the context of the SFI Enable programme, which is hosted by CONNECT, and researching technologies for connecting communities to smart urban environments through the Internet of Things.
An experienced postdoctoral researcher position is available to investigate vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle networking for connected and autonomous vehicles, at the Distributed Systems Group, based in Trinity College Dublin. The position is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and Intel Labs, and will be appointed as junior or senior post-doctoral researcher, depending on the candidate’s experience. The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled and innovative researchers in the area of networking and autonomous vehicles.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
- Investigate the challenges for vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle networking emerging from a need for guaranteed communication between vehicles for safety-critical applications;
- Collaborate with other academic and industry partners;
- Mentoring of PhD students.
