Job offer in Ireland Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Manufacturing and Design (Temporary Position) at University College Dublin

The UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (SMME) has a long and distinguished international track record of achievement and is committed to the highest standards of teaching, learning and student development within a research-informed environment. Manufacturing and Design are centrally important to most of the taught Bachelors and Masters Programmes offered by the School and link directly to one of our three research priorities and complement our other two, Design & Manufacturing, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials. Recent faculty appointments to the School related to this particular post include two Full Professor appointments in Precision Manufacturing and Inclusive Design, with additional appointments in Manufacturing & Management; Computational Materials Processing; Mechanical Design and Medical Device Design. Following recent sustained growth in our portfolio of taught programmes and the growth of internationally important research opportunities, the School now invites applications for a five year position of Assistant Professor in Manufacturing and Design.

Prospective candidates for this post are required to demonstrate their future potential to develop a world-class research programme and to have an outstanding track record and upward trajectory of internationally competitive research achievement relevant to the manufacturing and design aspects of the School.

On appointment, the successful candidate will be expected to build and maintain an active personal research programme, to publish in leading international journals and conferences, and to seek out opportunities for research funding and collaboration, both nationally and internationally. Depending on the successful candidate’s interests, association with one of UCD’s Research Institutes or Academic Centers will be encouraged. The appointee will be required to undertake teaching duties, to include both lecturing and project supervision, across a range of programmes offered by the School.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
