Job offer in Ireland Lecturer in the Practice of Broadcasting at Queen’s University Belfast

The person appointed will be required to undertake research in their area of expertise in line with the School’s research strategy, to deliver high quality teaching and examining at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the practice of broadcasting, and to contribute to School administration/outreach activity.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Primary Degree.
  • Masters Degree
  • Hold a PhD or be willing to undertake a PhD in a relevant area.
  • A research focus on REF returnable practice-based outputs related to broadcasting, media, communication and culture.

In view of the focus on practice, suitable ‘research outputs’ for this post are interpreted as encompassing:

  • high quality broadcast productions of national and international significance.


  • broadcast outputs which include, but are not restricted to, news and current affairs journalism, radio or television documentaries, or broadcast productions which cover major cultural events.


– Research outputs disseminated through scholarly publications of international quality. The successful candidate must demonstrate, to a degree appropriate to stage of career, the potential to enhance the research culture of the School.

  • The delivery of research that has a demonstrable impact on the wider community.
  • The presentation of research outputs, as defined, at conferences and similar venues.
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level.
