Job offer in Ireland Lecturer Below the Bar in Medicinal Chemistry at National University of Ireland, Galway
Applications are invited for a post, which is available from August 2019. The successful candidate will be expected to co-ordinate, design, review and deliver major portions of the Medicinal Chemistry programme led by the School of Chemistry for undergraduate students at NUI Galway. The successful candidate will teach and examine essential course work related to the programme in all undergraduate years and can also contribute to postgraduate teaching. She/he will contribute to module coordination. She/he will supervise or co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research and contribute to wider activities in the School, College and University. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of fundamental principles of medicinal chemistry and demonstrate that they can communicate these to students. They will show awareness of the wider needs of the Medicinal Chemistry programme and work with colleagues in cognate disciplines. They will establish a research group in an area of Medicinal Chemistry and compete for funding from national or other programmes. The research interests of the successful candidate will add to and complement the research of the School and wider University. The appointee will have excellent interpersonal skills and be prepared to collaborate with their colleagues within the School, University, nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate will be involved in teaching and examining of core courses needed for the programme in the School of Chemistry and will coordinate all activities of the programme. They will be involved in the ongoing review of this new programme in Medicinal Chemistry and as part of this critically evaluate our current offering and develop and deliver new modules as required for this programme. They will also be assigned undergraduate project students. They will supervise MSc and PhD students and are expected to apply for funding to support their research group. They will carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Head of School.

€37,979 to €58,944 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)
