Salary: Appointment will be made on the Senior Administrative Officer 3 [€80,968 – €103,815] salary scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, is embarking on an ambitious project to expand education and research activities across three of its Schools: Computer Science & Statistics, Engineering, and Natural Sciences.

The expansion of the three Schools is being executed as a single strategic activity – the E3 initiative – which will position Ireland at the forefront of research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (the STEM disciplines), that are crucial for future economic competitiveness.

Phase 1 of E3 will involve an expansion in the provision of student places, a revised pedagogy in the E3 Schools, and recruitment of staff to grow research capability on the six E3 Research Themes. Phase 2 of E3 is expected to involve building a dedicated E3 Research Institute to expand world-leading research facilities.

In line with the expectations of Phase 1, the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Science (FEMS) is now in a position to recruit a Business Development Manager based in Dublin.

In this role, you will be responsible and accountable for oversight and management of the delivery of the E3 Business Plan, including but not limited to:

Student Recruitment – understanding student demand and international student recruitment trends, tracking applications, offers, and acceptances, identifying gaps in provision and recommending quotas, and ensuring new programmes are developed as per the Business Plan schedule.

Staff Recruitment – working with the FEMS HR partner to ensure that staff are recruited in line with the Business Plan, ensuring that staff recruitment aligns with the E3 vision and has a direct correlation to growth in student numbers, and providing proposals for amendments to the plan as necessary, for approval by the Dean of FEMS and the E3 Steering committee.

Industry engagement – working with the Schools of Computer Science and Statistics, Engineering, and Natural Sciences to identify optimum leads and key contacts in target organisations, converting them to opportunities for research, student project work, and student internship placements.

Alumni relations and philanthropic commitments – Developing and maintaining alumni relations and philanthropic commitments in conjunction with Trinity Development and Alumni.

Manage the Marketing and Student Recruitment Team and Website – Assist in Website development and ensure it is up to date with key E3 features and activities. Manage the E3 marketing and student recruitment team in collaboration with the Global Relations Office.

With the Dean of FEMS, the post holder will ensure effective communication with the Heads of the E3 Schools and relevant school officers, project partners and wider stakeholder groupings. The E3 Business Development Manager will report directly to the Dean of FEMS, and the E3 Steering committee and will have operational responsibilities including HR, personnel, finance management, operations with respect to the E3 Marketing and Student Recruitment team.
