Grade/Salary: Technician, with a starting salary of €28,220 per annum. The current salary scale is €28,220 to €38,373.
Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).
Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.
Post Type: Temporary Funded Contract post, the indicative duration of which is 8 months, subject to contract.
A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled;
Such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority is seeking to fill a short term Food microbiologist position at the Teagasc Food Research Centre, Ashtown. The successful candidate will be involved in the application of novel food processing technologies including high pressure processing, cold plasma and ozone processing on range of food products. The primary role of the candidate is to assist and work closely with Post- Doctoral Fellow and PI to achieve project objectives. The candidate will work in close collaboration with other partners from Norway (Norwegian University of Science and Technology & SINTEF), Poland (National Marine Fisheries Research Institute) and Italy (University of Perugia in meeting the deliverables of the project.
Note: The ‘Essential’ qualifications, skills and knowledge outlined below are ‘must-have’ which will be used in the shortlisting process.
- Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in Food technology/Food microbiology or a related discipline.
- A Level 7 qualification in Food microbiology would be a distinct advantage.
