Job offer in Ireland Contract Technician at The Agriculture and Food Development Authority

Technician Grade 1, with a starting salary of €29,075 per annum. The current salary scale is €29,075 to €39,145.

Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).

Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.

Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 18 months, subject to contract.

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.

Teagasc is now seeking to recruit a highly motivated, ambitious scientist with experience in HPLC analysis to an industry-funded project.  The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant multi-disciplinary team to assess the health benefits to the gut, of various food ingredients and products.  The successful candidate will perform oligosaccharide analysis on various ingredients.  A Dionex HPAEC-PAD system will be used to investigate dietary fibre, polysaccharides and oligosaccharides in the food products.  The successful candidate will be a creative, independent thinker with willingness to learn and acquire new skills in HPLC and oligosaccharide analysis.

Note: The ‘Essential’ qualifications, skills and knowledge outlined below are ‘must-have’ which will be used in the shortlisting process.

Essential Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in food science or a related discipline.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Level 7 qualification in a food related discipline.
