The School

The established team of psychology academics and researchers in the Faculty of Science and Health will form a new School of Psychology in September 2019. The Psychology team are a dynamic group with a strong record of excellence in teaching and research.  The BSc Psychology commenced in 2010 and over the past 9 years has gained a reputation for strong stakeholder relations and highly successful graduates. The MSc Psychology (Conversion) commended in 2018 and a new MSc in Psychology and Wellbeing will come on stream in September 2019.

Position

We seek to add an individual with a strong academic track record and expertise in research methods and statistics or, alternatively, expertise in other research areas that will complement the existing teaching and research strengths of the team.  The successful candidate will conduct high quality research and teaching in core and specialist areas of psychology and will also participate in the School’s external engagement activities.

Person Specification

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree and PhD in Psychology, or their equivalents, and have a strong academic record. Previous teaching and research experience is required, and eligibility

for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is preferred. Relevant expertise in the area of research methods and statistics is desirable.

Salary Scales:

*Assistant Professor (Lecturer Above Bar):  *€52,188 – €83,039 per annum

*Assistant Professor (Lecturer Below Bar):  *€39,123 – €53,784 per annum

*Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will be made on the appropriate point of the relevant salary scale in line with current Government pay policy
