An opportunity exists at Arts University Bournemouth to provide technical support to the Film subject area.

The role of Technician is to provide broad general technical support across the film subject area under the direct management of the Senior Technician. The role has varying deliverables to meet the demands of a range of courses and activities, including providing some support to the photography subject area.

Working alongside a team of Technician Demonstrators, the Technician will ensure the effective operation of film and photography equipment stores on a daily basis, issuing and receiving equipment and undertaking first-line maintenance. You will provide equipment and software support and guidance to students, assist colleagues with inductions and workshops, and contribute to the preparation, building and dismantling of exhibitions.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a depth of knowledge of film production and photography equipment, and ideally have experience of working in an education setting. An understanding of health and safety working practices is also essential, as is the ability to work as a member of a team and independently using your own initiative.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to the working day and environment as regular evening and weekend working will be required on a rotational basis, which may be on or off the University’s main campus.

You must possess GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent, in English and Maths and a level 3 qualification in a film related subject. A degree qualification, or equivalent experience in an appropriate field, would be advantageous. It is also desirable that you will be in possession of a full UK/EU driving license.
