The University of Exeter is a Russell Group university that combines world-class research with very high levels of student satisfaction. Exeter has over 21,000 students from more than 130 different countries and is in the top 1% of universities in the world with 98% of its research rated as being of international quality. Our research focuses on some of the most fundamental issues facing humankind today.

The post

The College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences wishes to recruit a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Professor Geoff Nash and Professor Alastair Hibbins. The successful applicant will join TEAM-A: The Tailored Electromagnetic and Acoustic Materials Accelerator, an EPSRC Prosperity Partnership programme. The aim of this partnership, which builds upon the successful relationship that exists between the University of Exeter and QinetiQ, is to develop advanced materials that can be used to control and manipulate the propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic energy, in a highly tailored, bespoke fashion, and develop innovative techniques for their cost-effective manufacture.

Due to the nature of the work that QinetiQ is involved with, applicants will be expected to get security clearance. For this reason, we have limited our applications to UK nationals who have resided in the UK for at least the past 5 years. We apologise if this means you are no longer eligible to apply; however, it is a matter of national security and we are unable to make exceptions.

About you

You will be able to contribute to the development of research strategies; participate in the overall management of the College in areas such as strategic planning, budget management and business planning; plan and deliver research, consultancy or similar programmes and actively seek and secure research funding.

You will possess a relevant PhD and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.  At Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow level, you will be a nationally recognised authority in RF and microwave materials.

You will be skilled in electromagnetic simulations, and RF and microwave experimental techniques, and able to develop research programmes and methodologies. You will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.

The University offers some fantastic benefits; see further details on the University website.

For further information, please contact Professor Geoff Nash, e-mail g.r.nash@exeter.ac.uk or telephone (01392 725867).

Interviews are anticipated to take place on 6 December 2017.

The University of Exeter is an equal opportunity employer.  We are officially recognised as a Disability Confident employer and an Athena Swan accredited institution.  Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented in the workforce
