The Department wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic full-time Senior Lecturer in Architecture to help develop and contribute to teaching, research and knowledge exchange in all areas of architecture within the Department. The principal requirement of the role will be to ensure the development of teaching, research and/or knowledge exchange activities within the Department.

Suitable applicants for this post will be up to date with current developments in the areas of IT and CAD within Architectural practice and their application to architectural technology/detailing and will be able to demonstrate a professional standard of expertise in in this area. Including:

  • BIMM skills – working knowledge of the implementation of level two BIMM and the aspirations of the industry towards level three. 
  • Revit on large multidisciplinary collaborative projects.
  • Structures and Advance Technology in Architecture.
  • Experience of studio teaching that integrates architectural design and technology.
  • Experience of student project & dissertation supervision would also be advantageous.

In addition to delivering effective teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, the post holder at H grade will be expected to take on module and programme leadership including managing their teaching team(s).

The Department has a growing number of partners delivering their modules and programmes in the UK and overseas and the successful applicants may therefore need to be able to support academic relationships with external partners delivering their module(s) in the UK and overseas. The successful applicant will be able to engage with students from diverse backgrounds, including overseas students, and in diverse study modes e.g. face-to-face, e-learning, full time, part time and short block courses.

The precise blend of teaching/research/academic management is not specified but it is important to note that at this level of appointment the role holder is expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and research / knowledge exchange / business-to-business activities of the Department and Faculty. An element of the Department’s strategy for the future is the embracing and embedding of technology-enhanced provision across its range of activities and we would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with experience in this area.
