The York Trials Unit (YTU) is a UKCRC registered clinical trials unit and one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials.  YTU undertakes national and international, scientifically rigorous, trials in a variety of areas whilst having a strong methodological portfolio.  YTU undertake trials in a range of subject areas including surgery, mental health, musculoskeletal disorders, education and public health.  Due to the continued success of the Unit we are seeking to expand our team of trial coordinators.  YTU wishes to appoint a highly motivated trial coordinator to contribute to high quality research.  This post offer’s the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary unit, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.

To conduct individual and collaborative research projects, duties to include: analysis and interpretation of research data; use of appropriate research techniques and methods; writing up of research results and dissemination through publications, seminar and conference presentations and public engagement and outreach activities; contributing to the identification of possible new areas of research. You will develop strong foundations for a career in health services research and will undertake coordination of on-going trials, all under the supervision and direction of a senior trial manager.  You will understand the processes involved in running a trial and be able to prepare documentation to obtain the required ethical approvals relevant for each trial.  You will have knowledge of quantitative/qualitative research methods, evaluative designs and randomised controlled trial methodologies to enable you to engage in high quality research.

–       MSc in a relevant area

–       PhD in a relevant area or equivalent experience is desirable

–       Track record of conducting high quality research

–       Knowledge and/or experience of coordinating randomised controlled trials

–       Highly developed communication skills

–       Experience of writing up research work for publication

–       Ability to identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds

–       Ability to design and undertake research relevant to the trial

–       Ability to work to standard operating procedures

Salary will be: £31,604 – £38,832 Per year
