Salary: £29,301 to £38,183 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The School of Geography wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to work on the EPSRC funded project “Achieving urban flood resilience in an uncertain future”, which is being delivered by a consortium of UK Universities. The project aims to enable the coordinated planning, design and operation of closely coupled urban water systems necessary to achieve transformative change in urban flood risk and water management.

The purpose of this role will be to have specific responsibility for personal research and coordinating the research of 8 other research fellows employed as team members for the EPSRC research consortium on Urban Flood Resilience. The person appointed will be expected to plan and conduct research in Work Packages 4 and 5 of the Project, applying the approaches, methodologies and techniques already in place for this work, and will be responsible for writing up their work for publication. The successful candidate will also need to familiarise her or himself with research methods and activities in WPs 1 and 2, to the extent necessary to provide effective leadership and coordination across the project’s RAs.

The person appointed will need to use their initiative and creativity to continuously evaluate, modify and improve the existing research methods. They will have the opportunity to extend their research portfolio.

This full-time maternity post is fixed-term for a period of 6 months to start as soon as possible with the possibility of an extension.
