University of York – Department of Health Sciences
|Contract Type:||Contract / Temporary|
|Placed on:||15th March 2017|
|Closes:||12th April 2017|
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work with Professor Kamran Siddiqi on a Cancer Research UK-funded research project investigating the supply chain of smokeless tobacco – widely available and popular among the South Asian diaspora in the UK.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent experience) and research skills in a relevant area, good qualitative skills, and possess a detailed understanding of a variety of methods used in social sciences and public health research. Given that the project may require interviewing non-English speaking participants of south Asian origin, ability to communicate in at least one of the south Asian languages would be an advantage. The post offers a significant opportunity for a researcher to advance a career in tobacco control and public health in active collaboration with a range of leading researchers.
This is a part-time post (29.6 hours per week) offered at Grade 7 on the University’s pay scale on an fixed term contract (equivalent to Lecturer level) with funding currently in place for 21 months. The expectation is that during the period of this award, the post holder will be involved in research grant and other funding applications to further develop this area of work.
For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Kamran Siddiqi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
