The institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences is seeking to recruit an intelligent, highly motivated and ambitious individual to provide research support to Dr Lennard Lee’s research group investigating cancer metastasis and the identification of cancer and tissue-specific gene drivers through molecular techniques and next-generation sequencing.

Applicants must be possess a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area such as biochemistry, a biological or life sciences subject or microbiology. They should have some practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques, such as cell culture, molecular genetic manipulations and/or genomics and an ability to analyse information and communicate effectively. As a research associate, you will be given training in genetics, molecular biology and genomic medicine. You would be responsible for performing cancer cell culture models, animal experiments and collating/analysing human tissues.
The post is full-time and fixed-term for up to 24 months initially.
Training will be provided in the techniques involved and experience is less important than academic ability, enthusiasm and quality of work.
Full time starting salary is normally in the range £26,495 to £28,936. With potential progression once in post to £32,548 a year
