Lancaster University – Students’ Union

Are you passionate about education? Do you believe in the power of community and in the importance of celebrating difference, multiculturalism and diversity? Do you want to join an energetic team who work hard and pride themselves on quality of work?

Lancaster University Students’ Union are looking for a team player to take up the role of Opportunities Coordinator (Internationalisation and Community). You will join a strong team of staff and student officers in supporting the delivery of new and exciting projects that offer students exciting opportunities to develop new skills, engage with their local community and discover new networks. You will be involved in two focus areas for the Union: connecting students with the local community (and vice versa), through volunteering, public events and improved communications; celebrating the various nationalities here on campus to ensure international students are supported to help them integrate into their new community and enabling UK students to enjoy and benefit from being part of such a diverse community.

We want a talented professional who can meet our high standards of quality when it comes to activity design and delivery. You will need to have the very best communication skills to support the promotion of activities across very different audiences and to recruit, train and instruct volunteers. We are looking for someone who can collaborate creatively with others but who also isn’t afraid of taking responsibility for the successful delivery of projects and events. You will need an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a high competency when it comes to administrative duties.

To succeed in this role you will need to have excellent organisational skills. You will need to have empathy and a good understanding of what it is like to be a student today and of the challenges and opportunities within the local community.

In return we can offer you an attractive employment package, pension contributions, and a supportive, flexible, and fun work environment. You will be able to contribute to the direction of the charity over the coming years, and shape the projects and activities for future students at Lancaster University.
