At the University of Derby people are at the heart of everything we do, and we take pride in being a really friendly, supportive and innovative workplace that is genuinely committed to offering colleagues the opportunity to develop a fantastic, long-lasting career here with us.

Significant investment from the University has led to the development of a wide range of new academic posts across Derby Business School, and we are now looking to attract the very best academic talent to contribute to our growing success as we embark on an ambitious expansion over the next five years in response to increasing demand for our programmes.

About the role

Derby Business School (DBS) consists of four divisions – Accounting, Business and Management, Economics and Finance, and Marketing and Operations, and is widely recognised for its excellent teaching credentials, high levels of student satisfaction, low staff student ratios, and high employability rates for our graduates. For example, all the subject provision in Business School is ranked in the top 40 in the recent Guardian 2018 University League tables. There is also an emerging scholarly and research culture, underpinned by a new research strategy, which is allied to strong links to industry and practice, and acknowledged as a real strength by our stakeholders. We work closely with a wide range of professional bodies including ACCA, CIMA, CIM, CMI, CIPD, CILT, ICAEW, IFA, CIPFA and AIA.

For these two new posts in Accounting we are looking to appoint experienced academics to help manage the development of our postgraduate/undergraduate programmes, and work closely with the Head of Division of Accounting to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of our teaching programmes in order to allow us to continue to provide an exceptional student experience.

We are particularly seeking applicants with expertise in delivering modules in the area of financial management and financial strategy, or in business and advanced taxation, or in management accounting, although a flexible approach to teaching on a range of accounting and finance modules is required.

In order to support our research ambitions the successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of producing, or the potential to produce, significant research.
