This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. CSEE is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students. The School is expanding, due to increasing student numbers and now wishes to appoint additional lecturers to help us grow.
Duties of the post
We wish to enhance the School’s existing research in the broad area of computer science and artificial intelligence as well as open up and develop new research activities that will become recognized as outstanding and internationally leading. The post will include teaching on computer science and artificial intelligence courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new ones and generally enhancing our research-led teaching. We aim for excellence in education as well as in research and are looking for candidates who can contribute to both. Research areas include: Deep Learning, Game AI, Analytics and Data Science, Human Language Science and Technology, Neural Engineering and Brain Computer Interfaces, Robotics, Virtual Reality and HCI. The successful candidate will be required to engage in other forms of research activity including seeking external funds.
Qualifications and Skills required
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related discipline; or the expectation of a PhD qualification prior to the start of the appointment. You should also have a good degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related discipline as well as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UKPSF D2) (attained via a recognised higher education teaching qualification, e.g. a postgraduate certificate in HE practice, or by an appropriate accredited process) or the commitment to gain such recognition by the end of their probationary period.
