About the role
This Lecturer post in Graphic Design is an exciting opportunity to join the teaching team on one of the most popular, well established and high achieving programmes within the School of Arts at the University of Derby.

The new student design studio facilities, easy access to a high quality digital print bureau and traditional printmaking processes, together with inter-curricula collaboration across programmes in Animation and Illustration gives Graphic Design at Derby a very distinctive, future facing feel and academic direction. This will provide the best, highly motivated applicant with opportunities for creative innovation and a platform for further development of the subject area within the new School.

The role requires a creative and inspirational multi-disciplinary graphic design lecturer who can motivate and support students in producing excellent outcomes through innovative learning and teaching methods. You will have an in-depth academic knowledge and understanding of the subject that embraces both traditional and digital production methods, and their professional demands. You will understand that Graphic Design is defined by its concepts, strategies and communication values as much as the tools and methodologies that are employed to create it.

You will need to be able to contribute effectively to the Graphic Design team and also to Illustration and Animation, two closely related courses, within the Visual Communication cluster, through strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. There will also be a requirement to contribute to the well-established MA in Visual Communication and the integrated Masters in Design at all levels.

You should have a strong commitment to teaching and learning and an understanding of current educational issues. You will need to value highly the student experience, teaching quality and standards, teaching innovation, flexibility, professional practice, employability and global perspectives on the curriculum
