Job offer in england IT Manager (JBCA) at The University of Manchester
This role is primarily based at the Alan Turing campus in Manchester, with some travel to the Observatory at Jodrell Bank to support staff and computing facilities there. You will procure, manage, maintain and upgrade computer facilities for JBCA and provide support to users and visitors.
Supporting JBCA’s Head of IT and Computing to deliver the team’s objectives, you will be self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within the local team and with central IT Services is essential. As is the willingness and ability to assist technical and non-technical users with a range of computing issues.
With a degree or equivalent in computing or a related subject, you will have experience of networked computer administration in a scientific environment and detailed knowledge of computer platforms and operating systems currently in use.
Expertise in software compilation and installation is required, whilst experience of scientific computing and astronomical data processing and data reduction tools would be an advantage.
