About the role
As an Executive Support Officer, you will contribute to the mission of the Medical Research Council to improve human health through world-class medical research, by ensuring our senior leaders get the highest quality support.
You will provide effective, efficient and proactive administrative support and work across teams to ensure optimal support and coordination.
You will build and maintain relationships externally and internally and provide a focal point for communications to senior staff.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Planning and organising meetings
- Helping project planning
- Assisting in drafting project correspondence
- Supporting staff recruitment, induction and the organisation of records of staff responsibilities and authorities
- Assessing department procedures and practices and propose changes where necessary
- Ensuring supplies of essential office resources are maintained
- Assisting in liaising with IT Help Desk to efficiently resolve technical problems
- Maintaining up-to-date organograms and seating plans
- Playing an active part in ensuring there is a seamless cover provided at all times for all RPG and Strategy Group Senior Staff as a collective effort with your executive support team colleagues.
The post will involve occasional travel to the MRC offices in London.
You will have an English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above (or equivalent). Educated to A Level (or equivalent) is desirable.
It is essential you have experience of administrative support tasks, arrange meetings, drafting minutes, reports, briefings and policy documents.
You must have experience of working and supporting multiple Senior Managers.
Experience of supporting recruitment activities and effective working with multiple stakeholders is preferred but not essential.
You will be able to deliver to tight timeframes and have the ability to prioritise, multi-task and organise own workload.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
It is essential that you are fully competent with routine Microsoft Applications. Knowledge of Oracle, Objective and Microsoft SharePoint would be beneficial.
