The University Library offers student-facing learning development support across a wide range of areas, including time management, note-taking and planning, critical thinking, academic integrity, academic writing, revision and exam strategies, in-sessional English for academic purposes, information literacy, digital skills, and maths and statistics.
You will play a significant role in designing and teaching workshops and one-to-one sessions to support the diverse needs of students across the range of disciplines covered by the University. Tutors work with students from all departments and across a range of skills, but this post will particularly support in-sessional English for academic purposes.
As this role is in developing English for academic purposes, knowledge of teaching English as a foreign language is crucial. Awareness of the challenges faced by students at various stages of their academic careers is essential, and candidates will ideally have prior experience of learning development in a higher education context.
The role calls for excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of academic staff and students to support curriculum and learning needs. The ability to thrive in a busy teaching environment and willingness to work collegiately are critical to the role.
