Technical Services, within the Faculty of Environment and Technology are seeking an Earth Science Technician for a part time, fixed term role of 15 months (or earlier return of the post holder) to provide maternity cover.
The hours will be 22.5 per week and at present are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but there is some flexibility around this.
As this position is part time, the salary will be pro-rated accordingly between £17,596-£19,792.
You will provide technical demonstration and instruction to students in the use of laboratory and field equipment and/or techniques. The role requires the post holder to support day and residential field trips.
This role requires skills and experience in one or more of the following subject areas – Civil Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Environmental Geography or Physical Geography. You should have experience of working in a technical environment in Higher Education and/or have broad based commercial or industrial experience working in a similar or relevant environment.
You must be able to communicate clearly and manage your own time well in a busy environment. You should have an enthusiastic, proactive and innovative approach to the learning environment and you should be IT literate. You must be aware of the Health and Safety requirements associated with supporting users in a laboratory environment.
A degree, technical qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline will be required.
