Reporting to the Director of Sustainability Service, the Deputy Director will support with the strategic development of the University’s Sustainability Service with specific management responsibility for the successful delivery of the Positive Partner theme. You will also be accountable for producing the University’s annual sustainability report, accounting for our total value, in addition to developing and enhancing decision-making across the University.

You will provide sustainability leadership across the University and externally, including providing specialist advice to senior leaders in the University Executive Group, Services and Faculties. Key to this role is the development of external networks and partnerships alongside raising our profile as a sustainable organisation. We are an award winning department that recently were ranked 2nd for the Russell Group in the People and Planet University League. We received particular praise for our environmental policy and strategy in addition to our education for sustainable development.

The successful candidate will possess gravitas and credibility with excellent communication skills. You will be adept at operating across a multi-tier organisation with a track record in a similar collaborative and collegial environment. The role will suit individuals who understand sustainability in its holistic sense and how this can be fully embed in all University activities.
