Applications are invited for this post, to be taken up no later than 1st January 2018. The Bursar is the senior financial and administrative officer of the College, and ex officio a Fellow and a member of the Council.
One of the smaller Cambridge Colleges, Sidney Sussex (founded 1596) has 370 undergraduates, 210 graduate students, 80 Fellows and 100 staff. The College enjoys a friendly atmosphere, strong academic performance and excellent relationships between Fellows, staff and students. The Bursar is a key figure in many aspects of College life, and often represents the College in the wider University and beyond.
The Bursar has responsibility for all the non-academic staff and activities of the College. S/he is central to the strategic and operational management of the College’s finances and assets. Responsibilities include development and maintenance of the College’s buildings and estates; execution of all financial, business and property operations; the management of IT and HR. The College is embarking on a £10m investment in its catering facilities and the Bursar will play a critical role in the management of this project.
The successful candidate will have proven financial, administrative and leadership skills, and sympathy with the College’s mission to foster excellence in education and research.
