Department

Student Lifecycle Administrative Services provides professional support to students and colleagues across the whole student lifecycle – from enrolment and induction, to exams, and final award for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students. We deliver sector-leading services, providing outstanding levels of support to Faculties and 37,000 students, including collaborative partners both inside and outside the UK.

Service enhancement, both to the students and the academic community is fundamental to everything we do, and informs our strong culture of continuous improvement and customer-focused delivery.

Role

We are seeking to recruit an Awards and Conferment Manager to lead the Awards and Conferment’s team within Student Lifecycle Administrative Services. The post holder will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of the student-related aspects of the University’s Awards Ceremonies. The post holder will also be the lead University expert on all queries related to the Awards Ceremonies, and the University’s conferment’s process, including production of Certificates, Academic Transcripts and other verification requests. The post holder will have direct line management for members of the Awards and Conferment’s team. In addition, the Awards and Conferment Manager will be expected to deputise for the Head of Student Lifecycle Administrative Services when required.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Events professional to take on a key management and event organisation role, or for someone who wants to build on their existing Higher Education administrative and event experience.

Previous experience in the organisation and management of large-scale events is essential, as is the ability to manage and develop staff and systems to ensure efficiency is optimised and all deadlines are met. Highly developed skills in Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel and Access is also essential.

You will be required to work flexibly, as a part of the wider Student Lifecycle Administrative Services team, including involvement in specific project and development work as directed by the Head of Student Lifecycle Administrative Services.

Ideal Candidate

You will be able to deliver a professional support service in relation to all aspects of the Awards and Conferment’s function, providing specialist advice and guidance to administration staff, academic staff and students. You will lead and manage the operational delivery of Awards Ceremonies and related conferment processes. You will have previous experience of the management and delivery of significant events, and will be highly proficient in standard office IT applications.
