University of Gloucestershire – Finance & Planning Department

3 year fixed term contract

37 hours per week, 1.0 FTE

The University is currently seeking an apprentice to work in a varied and developmental role within its Finance & Planning department.

This apprenticeship involves working within two teams, Financial Accounts and Financial Performance, in order to offer a unique development opportunity to experience and practice the different elements of a finance function and how they integrate and interact with one another.

Examples of activities that would be carried out are:

  • Calculation and processing of inter-departmental charges;
  • Supporting the production of external and internal finance returns;
  • Update and maintain financial systems documentation and filing;
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process; and
  • Reconciliation of University bank accounts to financial ledgers.

The successful candidate will be supported by a line manager, who will monitor their workload and training requirements and an Operational manager, who has recently completed AAT level 4, who will provide training and support for key tasks. In addition, other members of the finance team are available who are near completion of, or have recently completed, AAT qualifications to assist you with your development and studies.

Study support is provided in attaining an AAT qualification, commencing at Level 2 up to Level 3, with the potential to continue onwards to Level 4 for a committed team member. Attendance at college and progression through the AAT programme are an integral part of this role.
