About the role
Applications are invited for the position of Dean – Faculty of Humanities, Arts Social Sciences & Education.  The Dean is responsible to the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for the leadership and management of the Faculty. The Dean will contribute to the University’s mission and strategic direction, is accountable for the quality and sustainability of the Faculty’s academic programs in teaching and research and for ensuring appropriate staffing and resources that enhance their quality. The Dean is also charged with ensuring that appropriately directed quality research is carried out within the Faculty and/or in collaboration with staff of other Faculties and Institutes.

The Dean is a member of the senior advisory group, the Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Committee.

Acting in accordance with the relevant University policies and procedures, the Dean will be a key representative of the Vice-Chancellor and of the University to the external community, in particular to the professions and disciplines represented within the Faculty. 

Skills & Experience
Your highly developed strategic, organisational and management skills and experience in the development and implementation of strategies that promote academic excellence, will be highly regarded.  In addition you will have commercial acumen to drive business development, ensuring the financial viability of the Faculty and have the ability to build effective relationships with external funding agencies, industry and potential partners.  Your ability to provide leadership through guiding, inspiring and influencing staff in the Faculty to achieve the core activities of the Faculty and demonstrated success in developing an inclusive, supportive & sustainable culture, will be essential.
